Li Qijun is the Chief Planner of UPDIS, he has led and participated in more than 100 planning projects of various types, including strategic planning, urban-rural planning (territorial and spatial planning), comprehensive planning, urban design, and urban renewal. He is committed to solving strategic urban development problems with comprehensive value and multi-dimensional perspectives, and promoting planning implementation with innovative spatial design and policy research. Rooted in Shenzhen, he led and participated in important Shenzhen projects such as the overall planning of the Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone, Futian District Territorial and Spatial Plan, Statutory Plan and Urban Design of Baguang area, and Development Plan of Shenzhen's eastern coastal area. His projects also serve the entire country, with experience in more than 30 cities across China, including servcing strategic urban areas such as Xixian New District, Southern Zhejiang Science and Technology City, and Taizhou Bay New District.

He also won more than 20 national, provincial, and city-level awards, including 3 national and 8 provincial awards. He led the research titled "Policy Innovation and Coordination Mechanism for Coordinated Development of Urban Agglomerations" of the National Key R&D Program Project, "Research and Demonstration on Comprehensive Decision-making and Collaborative Services of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Urban Agglomeration". He co-authored four publications, including "Technical Manual for Urban and Rural Planning", "The Road to Transformation: Our Practice and Thinking", and "The Road to Transformation: Our Thirty Years and Thirty Cities", as well as published two standards and specifications, and more than ten academic papers in multiple core journals.
