On 8th June, 2022, the "Shenzhen City-Ocean Integration and Collaborative Development Forum," as part of the World Ocean Day activities, took place virtually and in-person at Cloud City in Nanshan District. The Forum was supported by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, co-organized by UPDIS and the Shenzhen Research Institute of Guangdong Ocean University. The theme was "Protecting the Blue, Building Dreams for the Future Greater Bay," focusing on marine ecological protection and restoration while exploring sustainable city-ocean integration development approaches.

At the event, Yang Hong, President of Global Ocean Capital Promotion Coucil, delivered an opening speech. Leaders from the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources and various experts participated in the Forum. In the keynote session, Academician Jiao Nianzhi of the Chinese Academy of Sciences discussed ocean negative emissions and sustainable development, proposing a system framework; Academician Yue Qingrui introduced the application of new FRP materials in marine engineering; Professor Lin Jian discussed the direction for Shenzhen to build a new center for marine technology; and Zhuang Hongxi and Ha Wenmei shared successful case studies on climate resilience and water-secured cities.

Following the keynote speeches, UPDIS and Shenzhen Research Institute of Guangdong Ocean University signed a strategic collaboration agreement to deepen marine ecological research and talent cultivation. As a coastal city, Shenzhen and UPDIS have long focused on marine ecology and city-ocean integration, actively promoting the development of global ocean center cities.
