Urban Landscape and Architectural Character Planning of Qianhai, Shenzhen
Located in the western part of Shenzhen’s Nanshan Peninsula, Qianhai serves as a strategic hub for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road under the Belt and Road Initiative, which plays a key role as a pilot for China’s Free Trade Zone policies. This plan aims to address existing landscape challenges caused by management and policy issues while exploring effective approaches to translate planning intentions into actionable management and detailed designs. The plan focuses on four key areas: control overall urban landscape, highlight key areas, showcase architectural character, and enhance landscape management.
Key tasks include:
- Strengthen the "water city" identity of Qianhai;
- Design distinctive landscapes for three high-density zones;
- Develope multi-level public space aesthetics;
- Create human-centric street systems;
- Shape the skyline under aviation height restrictions;
- Define architectural characteristics of Qianhai;
- Establish a three-tier landscape control system;
- Prepare implementation guidelines to ensure the plan’s execution.
