International Consultation on Urban Design of Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub Area, Shenzhen
The Xili Transportation Hub is one of the main hubs of Shenzhen's “three main and four auxiliary” rail system. The Plan proposes that the area is not just a transportation terminal, but a gathering point that showcases the city’s future, integrating science and technological industries, environmental friendliness, and cultural exchanges. It should have higher traffic flow efficiency, more convenient walking spaces, more diverse and complex urban functions, and richer charming experience.
The project designed two iconic towers in the northern area of the high-speed railway station. The three-dimensional green park in the middle of the tower not only creates more outdoor green space, but also provides an excellent viewing point. Benefiting from the eastern and western development on top of the high-speed railway station, the proposal organizes the urban interface around the high-speed railway station hall to form two east and west precincts. The layers of rooftop public spaces are open to the streetscape, connected by staggered three-dimensional corridors, forming pocket parks and theater spaces of various sizes, stimulating vitality of public life.
